Doctores Bolaroja are selected from students in the Bolaroja Clown School .
After completing clown school, students, in a 30-hr workshop, are given the experience of the difference between performance clowning and  hospital clowning.
In this workshop they reinforce clown concepts , through simulations. They explore the meaning of playing a game at the hospital, the closeness with the patient, and how to develop and maintain awareness .

Next comes an observation period and then supervised practices at the hospital.  By the end of the testing period the clown student officially joins the Doctores Bolaroja team.
